Compatibility Merge for
    - ThoughtfulRoach by woodbyte
    - ThoughtfulRoach Feedback Modmod by moirai
    - Friendly Stash and "Random overencumbrance when loading a save fix" by wghost81

Load with higher (that is, numerically lower in W3MM) priority than these or use as a base for your own merge.

Fixes Follow mode not working at all or only working on 2nd to 3rd whistle.

Also includes HUD-Messages to display Roach's follow state after whistling.
Notification can be disabled in mod settings.

I just did the merge and figured out why follow mode was not working,
all other work done by the individual mod's authors.
If any of them want me to take this down, I will.

Both original mods need to be installed! I Intentionally did not include anything from them that was neither in conflict nor broken.

Update: on request, now also has a version with only the fixes and tweaks to Thoughtful Roach, not the compatibility with Friendly Stash.

If you know what you're doing, you can stop reading now.

Some things I thought I didn't need to spell out:
  • This is just a compatibility and bugfix patch.
  • Therefore, you need to have Thoughtful roach and Friendly Stash installed.
  • Thoughtful Roach follow state feedback and random overencumbrance fix are not included verbatim, but both the tweak and the fix are included, though implemented differently.
Thus, If you follow the overencumbrance fix's and these instructions, it won't matter if the overencumbrance fix is installed.
Follow state feedback only exists as a code snipplet in a comment, so you wouldn't find something to be installed anyway.
  • Use Witcher 3 Mod Manager to install everything. If you are unsure what it does or how it does it, do some research.
  • Use Script Merger and Script Merger Unofficial Patch to resolve conflicts. If you are unsure what it does or how it does it, do some research.
  • in W3MM, set priorities such that my Patch has a lower numer / higher importance than both original mods.
  • in SM, left pane, when a file is listed as being from my patch and one or both original mods, deselect the original version, select my version. Alternatively, merge manually and thus check that my merge is sane.
  • If you use other mods, do whatever you need to do to ensure compatibility and solve conflicts.
  • If you want to see how I did what I did, look for "// LordHelmchen" in the merged files.
  • This is what looks correct to me in code and is only a stripped down version of the merged script files for my mod setup. As I have never worked with W3 mods a week ago (from the initial release of this patch) I might have erred, but so far it works as expected.
  • apply the above analogously for the fix-only version. Naturally, you won't want to install Friendly Stash in that case.
  • the real heroes of any modding are the people who write mod managers and conflict solving tools.
  • I wrote this patch to scratch an itch in my game. If it solves your problem I'm glad, if I messed up I'll try to help and repair, but please don't expect me to solve all conflicts in your mod setup, especially for mods I don't use.
  • translation of the setting for follow notification is probably terrible.
