Soapbox Retro Nintendo Games Cost Too Much, But Nostalgia Is Expensive
Second-hand Nintendo games are notoriously pricey, but why?
The year is 1999. I'm in a GAME, in Loughborough town centre. The grey carpet is sticky, the awful fluorescent lights are so dim I can barely see, and everything sort of smells like stale sweat. I'm standing in the N64 section with my brother, both of us clutching a small fortune in pocket...
Soapbox Playdate Sold Out In 20 Minutes - Is It Time For A New Nintendo Handheld?
The Game Boy... 2
Many of us at Nintendo Life have been patiently, excitedly waiting for the Playdate to go on sale, because we're suckers for bits of colourful plastic. Well, it did, and we missed it, because all 20,000 initial units (for the 2021 batch, at least) sold out in just 20 minutes. [Not all of us missed it! - smug Ed] It's hardly...
Feature Our Predictions For Nintendo's E3 2021 Direct
Switch Pro, BOTW2, and high, high hopes
It's been a long, weird year, but E3 is back after last year's COVID cancellation. It's still a digital event, as we're not out of the woods yet, but that means we'll be seeing all the big names on the (virtual) stage again. But will Nintendo give us everything we've hoped for, or will we be left a little...
Memory Pak Playing Through Ghost Trick For The First Time
Life-changing death-changing
There are a handful of games that I find it difficult to talk about, because my calm, collected journalist demeanour gets overtaken by my extremely over-enthusiastic inner fan. I can't tell you how much I adore Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, because I'll legitimately get too emotional about how utterly brilliant...

Talking Point Which Old Game Series Would You Like To See Revived?
Be careful what you wish for...
Picture this: You're on a beach. You're digging a big hole, because that's the best thing to do on a beach, maybe second only to eating an ice cream or finding a reaaaaaally smooth rock. But suddenly, your neon-pink plastic spade hits something hard. You claw it out of the wet, dark sand with your fingers, too...

About The Game
In Ghost Trick Phantom Detective, players are transported into the spirit world of Sissel, a murder victim who has lost his memory and returned as a ghost to solve the mystery of his suspicious demise.
As Sissel’s ghost it’s up to players to possess and manipulate items found in the real world to solve the captivating puzzles he encounters.
Using the stylus players will need to carefully choose the path for Sissel to travel, possessing objects in order to trigger the correct item that, when manipulated, will alter the fate of others and begin to unravel the strange truth about who Sissel is and why he was murdered. How will you scare off the unwary assassin? There are many routes to choose from but not all of them will be obvious. It’s up to you to solve the crime but be warned, Sissel only has until dawn before he has to leave the supernatural world for good. Will you discover the truth before his time runs out?
By possessing and travelling through phone lines Sissel can move onto the next chapter of his mystery and witness incidents that will help him to find out more about his murder.
Sissel has another unique ability which will help him on his search for the truth. He can possess corpses and rewind time to four minutes before the victim’s death. Not only this, but Sissel can talk to the deceased. Surely they’ll have something important to reveal? With the help of these two amazing abilities Sissel is bound to get closer to finding out what really happened in the hours before his death, as well as save the lives of others.
Features:
- Brought to you by the creator of the Ace Attorney series, Shu Takumi
- Intriguing plot mixing mystery and humour will draw players into Sissel’s search for the truth

I'm really looking forward to this game. This game is from the creator of the Ace Attorney series and it looks absolutely fantastic! I cannot wait to play it!
Hopefulyl we'll hear more about it at E3 and get a release date.
oh man, this looks interesting. i just read through the Nintendo Power article on GoNintendo about it... gonna be keeping an eye out for info on this coming outta E3 for sure :3
please-please-please... lol
I can't wait for this, as the 1st Phoenix wright game is one of my favourite games ever! Looks like it has kept the humour from the Wright series - "I don't remember anything. Probably 'cos i'm dead" and "This desk lamp knows a whole lot more than he's telling me"
This game looks really interesting! I am looking into getting it.
pretty fun and unique
Amazing game. Totally deserved the score that it got. Great character, great story, great music, you would know that this game and the Ace Attorney series have the same background.
While playing, I was seriously impressed. I'd usually play a chapter at a time, there of perfect length for a gaming session.
And most of all, gameplay wise, its unique. Had me hooked from beginning to end.
@Isao91 So I couldn't work out PM'ing so figured I could post on a page for an old game. Ghost Trick seemed appropriate. My email is [email protected] message me the EU code, if it still works I'll send you mine.
This is among the best games I have ever had the pleasure of playing in my life!
The animations are super smooth, especially with some of the wackier characters that dance around the screen. I have never seen such good rotoscoped animation in my life!
The gameplay is fantastic, and is very innovative, interactive and fun. You get to be a ghost and go 4 minutes back in time to before people died to change their fate. It's a really original and interesting puzzle game mechanic that you should try.
The music is fantastic. Even years after completing it, I still go back and listen to the OST on youtube. It's superb. Brings back feelings.
The story, in my opinion, is the best part about this game. It builds up a deep mystery of death, your ghost past, deeply intertwined characters' fates etc. to create a powerful and touching story. The mysteries don't stop until the very end. The character development for both you and all other characters in the game is heartwarming and tragic and wonderful in general.
In conclusion, I cannot stop recommending this game to every single person I meet; it's an absolute banger
