Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto Online’s biggest heist yet: The Cayo Perico Heist.
The heist takes place on a private island, and tasks players with infiltrating what Rockstar calls “one of the most secure private islands in the entire world”. It features heavily armed security guards, and players will have the option to either “neutralise” these forces or evade them with stealth. This being GTA, you probably don’t neutralise them with a carefully measured speech.

The heist was revealed with a teaser trailer featuring tropic, sun splashed visuals. The heist will officially launch on December 15.
Despite the size of this heist being Grand Theft Auto’s biggest ever, it’s entirely playable in solo. You can also play it with up to three other crew members, as is typical with GTA Online heists. During the heist, players will have to make off with “as much art, gold and drug money as you can carry,” though Rockstar also makes reference to stealing “valuable evidence”.
The heist base itself is not on the island, but on a high tech submarine HQ. Rockstar describes this as being “very large, very versatile, and very heavily armed,” and promises a lot of surprises yet to be revealed.

In the heist itself, you’ll be able to find new vehicles and new tactical weapons, as well as listen to a brand new radio station which comes with over 100 new songs. If you’re more into the social side of heisting a high security private island, there’s also a new social space on the island. Rockstar has teased that it will include “world-class guest DJs,” but hasn’t offered any more information than that.
