Jack Peñate has made a subtle comeback in the unlikeliest of places after being announced as a contributor on David Byrne‘s forthcoming album.
The south London troubadour has been named in the credits for Byrne’s ‘American Utopia’, although his exact involvement on the record is yet to be revealed.
Peñate, whose last release came in the form of 2012’s ‘No One Lied’, previously popped up last year as a surprise guest at The Maccabees’ final shows in Alexandra Palace.
He also promised fans that new material was on the way in 2015, although no music is yet to materialise.

Meanwhile, David Byrne accopanied the ‘American Utopia’ release with a cryptic statement that saw him discussing the ‘Utopia’ of the album’s title.

“This album is indirectly about those aspirational impulses. Sometimes to describe is to reveal, to see other possibilities. To ask a question is to begin the process of looking for an answer. To be descriptive is also to be prescriptive, in a way. The act of asking is a big step”, he said.
“The songs are sincere—the title is not ironic. The title refers not to a specific utopia, but rather to our longing, frustration, aspirations, fears, and hopes regarding what could be possible, what else is possible. The description, the discontent and the desire—I have a feeling that is what these songs touch on.”
