Liam Gallagher dedicates ‘Live Forever’ to 60 Ft. Dolls’ Carl Bevan

He honoured the late musician at Sziget festival

Liam Gallagher has dedicated Oasis‘ ‘Live Forever’ to late 60 Ft. Dolls musician Carl Bevan – watch the performance below.

Last week (August 9), news broke that Bevan, drummer of Britpop band 60 Ft. Dolls had died at the age of 51. The news was shared by his partner Bev, who took to his Facebook page to share the “devastating” update.

Later that night, Liam Gallagher headlined the Sziget festival in Hungary. For the second last song of his performance, Gallagher dedicated Oasis’ ‘Live Forever’ to Bevan.

It is currently unclear exactly what Gallagher said about Bevan, as there isn’t much footage of the performance online. So far, there is one clip circulating the internet, and it starts off with Gallagher saying: “Have you lot heard of 60 Ft. Dolls?” The video then quickly cuts to the beginning of the song.

However, 60 Ft. Dolls’ Richard John Parfitt has seemingly confirmed that Gallagher had dedicated the tune to Bevan. Parfitt wrote on Facebook – per Nation.Cymru: “Liam Gallagher dedicated Live Forever to Carl @ the Sziget Festival Budapest !”

The musician rose to fame during the 1990s as part of the UK punk band 60 Ft. Dolls. The band famously supported huge artists including Oasis and Sex Pistols, and took to the stage at Glastonbury Festival before their split in 1998.

Bevan was from Glynneath, Neath Port Talbot, but grew up in Newport. He was a teenager when 60 Ft. Dolls began making waves, and the band were reported by BBC as being dubbed “Cool Cymru” in the ‘90s, along with Manic Street Preachers, Super Catatonia and Stereophonics.

Back in 2020, he spoke to the outlet about his time in the industry too, and recalled how “There was a lot of gigs, a lot of laughter and stuff got broken and brain cells sacrificed in the name of rock’n’roll”

After ending his time in the music world, he returned to the public eye as a landscape artist in 2018.
