Finally, the wait is over! Actor Sunny Deol has officially confirmed 'Border 2'. Sunny has kept his promise that he made 27 years ago as a soldier. On Thursday, June 13, Sunny shared the announcement video that has got his fans excited.
Sharing the announcement video of 'Border 2' on his Instagram handle, Sunny Deol wrote, ''Ek fauji apne 27 saal purane waade ko pura karne, aa raha hai phirse. India’s biggest war film, #Border2 (sic)''. He added, ''Produced by Bhushan Kumar , Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta & Nidhi Dutta will be directed by Anurag Singh''.
In the video, Sunny is heard saying, "27 saal pehle ek fauji ne vada kiya tha ki vo vapas aayega. Ussi vaade ko poora karne, hindustan ki mitti ko apna salaam kehne, aa raha hai (Twenty-seven years ago, a soldier made a promise that he would return. He is coming to fulfill that promise, to salute the soil of India)''.
For the unversed, Deol played the role of Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri in 'Border'. He is reprising his character in the sequel.

'Border 2' is a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster drama 'Border', which was directed by JP Dutta. It hit the theatres on June 13, 1997. The war drama was set against the backdrop of Indo-Pakistani War, 1971. Apart from Sunny Deol, the film had a stellar ensemble cast of Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Pooja Bhatt, and Puneet Issar, among others.
As per reports, 'Border 2' will also star Ayushmann Khurrana. The movie is said to be releasing in 2026.
Earlier, a report in Pinkvilla stated that 'Border 2' will start rolling in October this year. A source said that the team behind the film has been ''working tirelessly to prepare everything and they they wanted to do justice to the magnitude of the first film'' and added, ''Now, as the preparations are almost done, the team will begin shooting, as it stands now, the team will begin shooting in October."
The same report also stated that 'Border 2’ will release on January 23, 2026 ahead of the Republic Day holiday which is on January 26.
