Following the assassination of top Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, blasts were heard in Syria's Damascus. Various unconfirmed reports have said an explosion occurred in the Damascus suburb of Sayyidah Zaynab.
Images circulating online show a cloud of smoke rising from the area Sayyidah Zaynab is considered to be an area with heavy Iranian and proxy presence.
As per Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a UK-based NGO with extensive sources in Syria, the Sayyidah Zaynab area is known for a significant presence of forces associated with the Iran.
Unconfirmed reports have further added that the blast could have been a fire at a factory or due to an airstrike, allegedly from Israel. Confirmation is awaited.
