The holiday movie Candy Cane Lane, starring Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross, has got an exclusive release date from Prime Video. On December 1st, 2023 the film, directed by Reginald Hudlin, will make its streaming platform debut. This comedy serves as an ideal way to jumpstart the merriest month of the year, as it unfolds in a spirited neighborhood amidst a Christmas decorating competition. Candy Cane Lane marks an exciting reunion with director Reginald Hudlin, actor Eddie Murphy, and producer Brian Grazer. The three previously worked together on the 1992 picture Boomerang.
Eddie Murphy plays Chris in Candy Cane Lane, a character who is driven to win his neighborhood's yearly competition for best Christmas decorations. When he unwittingly enters into a contract with an elf, played by Jillian Bell, in an effort to increase his chances of winning, things take an unexpected turn. The 12 Days of Christmas are magically transformed as a result of this arrangement, causing mayhem across the town. Chris must face a variety of mystical creatures in order to save Christmas for his family and neighborhood.
Ross assumes the character of Carol, Chris's wife, in the film. Thaddeus J. Mixson, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, D.C. Young Fly, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, and Nancy Lenehan are among the film's talented ensemble cast. The fact that Candy Cane Lane is Murphy's first film with a Christmas theme makes it a noteworthy milestone. Recently, he has been in comedic films like You People, a Netflix original in which he co-starred with Jonah Hill, Lauren London, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Coming 2 America, a follow-up to the cherished comedy classic Coming to America.
In addition, Candy Cane Lane marks the first time producer Ron Howard and filmmaker Reginald Hudlin have worked together since House Party. The movie is penned by Kelly Younger, recognized for works on Muppets Now and Muppets Haunted Mansion. Doug Merrifield is the movie's executive producer, while the other members of the production team are Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Eddie Murphy, Karen Lunder, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster.
