In the Indian Premier League, the Kolkata Knight Riders clinched their third IPL title and the first in ten years, while in tennis, all roads led to Paris with superstars Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner among many others checked in at Roland Garros.

Cricket


The Kolkata Knight Riders won their first Indian Premier League title in a decade after restricting the Sunrisers Hyderabad to a below-par 113 before chasing the total down in just 10.3 overs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. 

Moving from franchise cricket to the internationals, West Indies completely outplayed the visitors South Africa, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series played in Jamaica. 

After the first T20I was abandoned due to rain, England comfortably ran through Pakistan in the second at Edgbaston, thanks to Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer. 

Football

After a historic season, Bayer Leverkusen were beaten by Atalanta in the Europa League finals after Ademola Lookman smashed home a hat-trick in Dublin. 

Southampton won promotion to the England elite after Adam Armstrong’s strike in the 24th minute to win the game 1-0 at Wembley in London. 

La Liga champions Real Madrid ended their campaign with a 0-0 draw at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to Real Betis, while Xavi Hernandez’s last game as Barcelona manager ended with a victory away from home to Sevilla.

Tennis 

Novak Djokovic endured yet another defeat bowing out of the Geneva Open but has travelled to Paris with low expectations and high hopes. Casper Ruud on the other hand, clinched his third title in Geneva and will be brimming with confidence ahead of his first round at  Roland Garros.

Andy Murray crashed out of Roland Garros as a dominant Stan Wanrinka notched it up a gear, while Carlos Alcaraz streamrolled JJ Wolf to move to the second round.

Other Sports

Dipa Karmakar scripted history as she became the first-ever Indian gymnast to win a gold medal at the Asian Senior Championships, while the Indian women’s team took their third Archery World Cup gold medal. As a precautionary measure, Neeraj Chopra decided to skip the Ostrava Golden Spike.
