The original Galaxy Watch Active
The Galaxy Watch Active is just four months old at this point but its popularity appears to have impressed Samsung. So much so that, according to
SamMobile, a second-generation model is already in the works.
Much like the original, sources within the company believe the Galaxy Watch Active 2 will arrive without a rotating bezel. Further details weren’t shared but this would suggest Samsung has plans to retain the same overall look. Nevertheless, in order to keep things looking fresh, some small external tweaks are to be expected.
Accompanying the design changes should be improvements to internals and updated software. Also, as the wearable’s name indicates, upgrades to existing fitness-focused features and the introduction of new ones are basically a given. These should help attract the interest of consumers and give Samsung the opportunity to better compete with Apple, who has
found big success thanks to its range of health-related features.
Considering the Galaxy Watch Active’s relatively recent launch, the Active 2 is unlikely to arrive in the near future. Instead, the smartwatch will probably make its debut in early 2020 alongside the
Galaxy S11 series. In the meantime, Samsung will be keeping customers entertained with its other line of wearables.
As
SamMobile revealed last week, the South Korean-based company is also preparing a standard
Galaxy Watch 2. This model is expected to go official in early August alongside the
Galaxy Note 10, around one year after the original was first announced.
