So far, so perfect
Phone owned for less than a month

The ASUS Zenfone8 is a "compact" flagship phone with a mixture of features & compromises that's close to perfect for me - particularly at its price-point. There just aren't many phones out there anymore that aren't over (and most well over) 6" / love the size.
Pros:
-It's new, but so far the build quality seems impeccable.
-The battery is large, and settings for refresh rate (up to 120 Hz), brightness and so on offer any balance you might be looking for between performance and battery life. A feature I particularly appreciate is the ability in battery settings to set recharging speeds and limit recharging to 80% or 90%, thereby prolonging the life of the battery.
-Sound quality is terrific, and I got a data connection in my son's basement where no other phone we've owned has managed.
-Haven't done too much with the camera yet, but pictures I have taken look at least as good as on my Galaxy S9.
-The display is beautiful, with vibrant colors and the usual options for adaptive brightness, though I leave mine set at 100%.
-The ASUS UI doesn't hit you with bloatware, and I really, really appreciate that it allows you to uninstall Facebook! (Also no darn hassle trying to disable that horrible Samsung Bixby that can't be uninstalled).
-Internet and UI speeds are more immediate than fast.
-I don't use a headphone jack often, but I like having one when I want it.
-Nice little touches like the recharging light on the bottom of the phone near the recharging port, where it's generally more visible than a light at the top of the display screen.
Cons:
-Maybe the issue is the Gboard, not the phone, but I was unable to set the keyboard to 5 lines with a dedicated numbers row. I solved that by downloading a free, no-ad app I'm very happy with.
-There aren't as many aftermarket cases available for the Zenfone8 as there are for some of the mega-selling phones, but you can still get one in any form-factor you're looking for.
-My only real complaint is that the case included with the phone is almost as slippery as the phone itself. Then again, how many manufacturers give you a case at all?
