Description

HTC Smart utilizes the Qualcomm's Brew Mobile Platform. The device is meant for the mass consumer and will use the Sense interface, which we are well acquainted with from the manufacturer's Windows Mobile and Android phones. It provides great personalization possibilities, as well as easy access to social networks. Naturally, an e-mail client is also present. The manufacturer's main idea is that HTC Smart should be cheap, so more people could afford it. This has naturally led to unimpressive characteristics - 2.8-inch QVGA display, 3-megapixel camera with fixed focus, 300MHz processor, 256MB RAM and 256MB ROM memory. Good news for the music fans is that HTC Smart has a 3.5 mm jack. Additionally, it offers a microSD slot and a miniUSB port for charging and connecting to a computer. HTC Smart is a quadband GSM, however it will only be able to use 3G networks in Europe and Asia.

Cons

  • The touchscreen uses resistive technology, which is not responsive
  • Thick body (0.50 inches)
I want it 2 users
I have it 3 users
I had it 1 user

Hey! Nice looking paperweight!
Phone owned for less than a month

I got this phone free under a contract, so no real cash lost. the phone itself is beautiful, and it looks very much like a Proper Smartphone. I thought I got a good featurephone for free.
Then I turned it on and was greeted by the crappy BrewMP OS. The Sense UI barely masks the horror of BrewMP. First thing I noticed was that there wasn't any app store like application. There goes entertainment. Next I realised that the multiple menus and the Homescreens were basically showing the same things.
After trying to ignore such blatant techniques of false functionality, I tried typing a message. I have to admit, that it was an OK experience, especially for a resistive screen. the only complaint I have about the text input is that I coz of the resistive screen, some keys are pressed wrongly (like when i try and press B, the screen types up the letter V instead). Not too bad, no real complaints.
Camera is mediocre, Shots came out dull and washed out. Videos taken are horrible. LED light is useless.
HTC tried making a Feature phone, but ended up making a basic phone. I have to say though, that for it's LOW price, it is an OK phone. It has all the features of an average Keypad phone, resolution, Cam, Apps (Java only anyone?), with a touchscreen. If you have a tight budget, or already own a smartphone and want to renew your contract, this phone is good enough too keep as a backup or a free gift to someone; coz it looks nice enough for the person to believe you spent money on their gift.

are we talking about same phone?
Phone owned for

I use this phone about from two weeks ago Cons:-1.No call Management( incoming call reject, ringer mute, etc)Just press volume rocker and phone will mute, right red button (as usual) for call reject2. SINGLE ringtone for all contactsI set different ringtone (mp3) for some contacts (important for me), maybe for me miss option to set ringtone for group.3. Superdumb useless BrewMP OSNo superdumb, only new and in the future we will see what it can.4. screen is not adequately sensitive for any touch UIEnough sensitive as all other resistive touchscreen, for me enough sensitive. 5.Cant play most video formats, also vid quality is poorJust three video formats usually used in phones, for me this is phone with some video possibilities, not video player, just to record something ...6. average call sound quality Call sound is very well, I hear other side well and other hear me also well7. No recording in FMWhy should I record in FM? 8 NO Voice recordingI agree. This is bad.9. No utlities like stopwatch, world time, timer, currency converter, etc which are available in even cheap Basic phonesYes, I have this apps in my "dumb" slider three years old. They should do something about this.10.Crappy music playerMusic player is decent, basic but decent. I need pone to work like phone, save the battery life.11. only wap browserHTML browser, OBIGO Q7.3-1.7, two taps for instant zoom in, and zoom out, but as all 3" screen limitation for comfortable surfing net (I use my notebook, tomorrow maybe some like iPad device)no flash player what is handicap  12. list goes on and on..... maybe GPS or at least google mapsCalendar don't have possibility to set some repeating occurrence on month or annual basic (like birthdays, anniversaries ... etc.)Pros:Nice case designVery nice design, as well HTC UI senseFriendstreamNice feature but not important, as well as e-mail, ok maybe in hurry to check out some important mail (I set google mail and gmx. mail and both work well)battery lifeOf course, no WiFI GPS and other battery consumers, just for call and sms with few nice features like weather app ..And I wish to add nice calls and messages tracking
