First look at Stranger Things season 5 reminds us that Stranger Things season 5 is still happening

It’s been more than two years since the last season of Stranger Things — but now Netflix is here with a reminder that season 5 is still happening! For real! And now there’s actual footage to prove it!

The streaming service dropped a behind-the-scenes look at how filming for season 5 has been going. According to the stars, they’re about midway through filming. Millie Bobby Brown has a sweet line about how she started this when she was 10 and now she’s 20 — dang that passage of time! Other actors make appearances, all really hyping up this final season and how intense it’s going to be.

The last season of Stranger Things ended with a huge cliffhanger, as it seemed like the parallel world of the Upside Down had started to leak into Hawkins. Also, Max’s fate is still up in the air; thanks to the power of friendship and Kate Bush, she’s not dead but she is in a coma and Eleven can’t find her in the mindscape.

The fifth season of Stranger Things doesn’t yet have a release date. The writers’ strike in 2023 delayed production, shifting any projected timeline. We don’t know much about season 5, except that Linda Hamilton has joined the cast. It’s still set to be the final season of the show, and the Duffer brothers have a very clear picture of how it’s going to end. But for those hankering for more Stranger Things, fret not — there’s a spinoff in the works.
