Emma is a gentle and empathic psychologist who aims to create a space where individuals feel heard and respected. She uses a calm and relaxed approach to support individuals to recognise their inner strengths and draw on these to reach their therapeutic goals. Emma has experience working with individuals across the lifespan and is particularly passionate about helping adolescents and young adults build self-awareness, confidence, and self-determination in their life. She has worked primarily in the disability sector with neurodiverse individuals and those with lived experience of psychosocial disability.
Emma uses a neuroaffirming approach to understand the challenges that autistic individuals experience living in an environment which may not support their diversity. She recognises that many autistic individuals suffer stress, trauma, and burnout as a result, and that support and accommodations are often needed to help maintain mental health and wellbeing.
Through building a strong therapeutic alliance, she aims to empower autistic individuals to embrace their identity and to self-advocate, so that they may thrive and live a meaningful life. Aside from mental health, and her family and friends, Emma’s main passion in life is bouldering. She can often be found in her local climbing gym or hiking coastal trails.
