I work from the assumption that every person develops unique ways to deal with emotional/physical pain. Over time, these once useful adaptations can become automatic, habitual, and, alarmingly, the cause of more pain. Often, we are only aware that what once worked is no longer working. I have worked in a variety of settings with a variety of individuals, including with people experiencing justice involvement, people experiencing addiction, and people experiencing treatment in psychiatric hospital in-patient and out-patient settings.
I work with people who experience anxiety, depression, harsh self-criticism, attachment-related trauma or (often) a combination of all of the above. My approach is informed by my unique combination of a research PhD in Psychology, a Master’s of Social Work, and post-graduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I look forward to hearing from you, and to potentially working together to achieve your goals.
