Seeking support takes a tremendous amount of courage and is an important first step in addressing issues that cause distress or unhappiness. I believe that creating a safe, welcoming and accepting space is essential in helping clients make contact with difficult experiences, and in developing a richer understanding of themselves and their emotions. With 20 years of experience working in community and inpatient mental health services, I use a psychodynamic and trauma-informed approach which is client-led and tailored to individual needs. I have capacity to see people short-term or long-term.
I specialise in the treatment of mood & anxiety disorders, PSTD and trauma, self-harm and suicidal ideation, emerging personality disorders, psychotic disorders, identify and self-esteem, restricted eating behaviours, emotion-regulation difficulties, parent-child relational issues and family therapy.
I believe that therapy is most helpful when there is a positive alliance between the therapist and client. Sessions are collaborative with a focus on developing insight and self-awareness, whilst also considering the impact of early-life experiences. Sensory items and other creative interventions are also used to help clients feel safe and comfortable.
