I have been working as a psychotherapist & counsellor for over 30yrs in a variety of government agencies (including sexual assault services, rape crisis services, victims of crime support services & women's health services) and private practice (11yrs in Sydney & 6yrs in Canberra). I have specialised in working with people whose histories include complex trauma, attachment trauma, developmental trauma and trauma in adulthood (including childhood sexual abuse, emotional & psychological abuse, childhood physical abuse, family violence, coercive control in relationships & adult rape). I also work with people struggling with PTSD.
I have completed comprehensive training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy with the SP Institute in the USA, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Self-Psychology (ANZAP) all of which support my deep understanding of the unmet developmental needs resulting from trauma in childhood and which offer effective ways of managing and transforming related survival resources.
I understand taking the step to reach out for help can be challenging so I endeavour to create a warm and relaxed environment to set the tone for therapy sessions and build trust. This journey is a collaborative one so, together, we identify your needs and goals. We then determine the most helpful way/s we can work towards your desired outcomes.
