At some point in life we experience the storms of life that impact our very being and our ability to function with daily life due to unexpected events or crisis. It can be difficult to express concerns, doubts, fears etc to manage what seems to be a rollercoaster period. It is sometimes difficult to manage or confront internal/external conflicts or to determine which path to take when in the midst of challenging life experiences. We worry about not being understood or accepted. It is for such reasons that I feel honoured to become a part of client' lives during moments of connecting to weather the storms together.

If you are thinking of starting a therapy you may be willing to deal with painful issues that can manifest in various shapes and intensity and have an impact on the day-to-day life; such issues are personal and linked both to personality and life events. A disturb can express in different ways and symptoms, like panic attacks, Depression, psychosomatic symptoms, Anxiety etc. Other times there is rather a generic feeling of discomfort that needs to be defined and addressed.

Throughout their lives many people go through emotional and psychological difficulties. Psychotherapy can help to bring about change through conversations, in some instances to understand a particular and current challenge or symptom, and in others to explore one’s life more extensively. Trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist, I embrace an attitude that affirms the inherent value of each individual. My approach is flexible depending on the client's needs. We work together to identify the roots and connections between behaviors, unconscious thoughts, feelings, emotions and physiological responses.

I am a Psychotherapist & EMDR therapist. I feel passionately about the power of therapy to provide healing and transformation. Therapy is a collaborative journey and with kindness and curiosity I will be by your side as you navigate your way back to a ‘fullness of being’ that is there inside of you waiting to be discovered. There are many reasons for seeking therapy. You may want to feel at peace in your body and mind to allow you the space to access your innate potential for growth and fulfilment. You may wish to feel safe enough to be more authentically you in relationships, or caught in worry, fear, self-doubt and feeling stuck.

I am currently offering online individual integrative therapy for adults. I believe that at times we need extra help from a supportive and qualified person to allow time to think, to be listened to, and to plan towards a better quality of life in spite of upsetting, challenging, or traumatic life experiences. As mental health difficulties often happen in the context of relationships, so too does the healing. I also believe that experiencing mental health difficulties does not mean a failure to cope, but rather that this is the brain and body’s way of letting us know that a change is needed.

I offer a psychoanalytic approach which endeavours to recognise how recurring patterns in relationships have been effected by the past and earlier experiences. A current traumatic experience or distressing situation may be a reminder of an early hurt. From childhood, foundations for relationships are set in place and provide a template for what lies ahead. Dependent on these secure/insecure early foundations, we form strategies to cope with unpredictable or unpalatable feelings. It may be that circumstances arise which cause us to reach for unhelpful strategies only serving to hurt us more.

Psychotherapy can help you to gently gain a new perspective on your relationships, without judgement, in a confidential space. Although relational patterns may have served you well in the past, perhaps you feel they are not helpful to you any longer. You may feel that things are just not working out, without ever really understanding why. Perhaps you keep choosing particular people as friends or partners that you know are not healthy but can't resist anyway. Perhaps this makes you feel anxious, depressed, and well meaning advice from friends of family doesn't seem to help.

I believe that therapy allows you to take a more active role in understanding and experiencing your emotions. When we are not aware of our emotions or ideas, it can mean we act out certain behaviours – or experience certain feelings - without knowing why. And while we might be able to tolerate this for some time – perhaps even for a long time - I believe there is a difference between surviving and living. Developing a closer – or less mysterious - relationship with ourselves can allow us to go beyond living life passively and begin to really experience it.

Therapy can be a number of things. It can be a space to challenge unwelcome emotions, or a place to unpack life’s hardest moments. It can be a space of growth and self-discovery, or an accountability structure to push you towards change. No matter what you’re looking for, this is your safe space.

A therapist is someone you hang out with for an hour once a week. So pick someone you might actually look forward to hanging out with. That might be me if you like: metaphors from fantasy books and Pixar films, simple questions like 'Can it be both?', 'Is that OK?' and 'What's going on for you?', and being challenged to accept yourself as you are. Like all good therapists, I try to offer a safe space to feel painful emotions and express deep secrets. But I also think there's space for a joke and some laughter in there too.

In my work as a Clinical Psychologist I help young people, parents and adults, who are struggling to manage their feelings and their relationships (e.g. at university, school or work). As a Psychotherapist I specialise working with young people and young adults who may feel stuck in their life, struggling to transition to the next stage of development. Therapy gives an opportunity to understand what dynamics have been at work for a long time time that are contributing to feelings of anxiety and low mood. At times, complex early experiences come to the surface, and these can be explored and processed within the safe space of therapy.
