I believe this potential is found through a trusting relationship between client and counsellor which is key to a positive counselling experience.
Life is not always straightforward, at times we can feel overwhelmed, stuck or alone. Relationships with others can be complicated and can cause stress, confusion and pain. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own. My name is Maggie and I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and work with individuals. My aim is to walk alongside you for part of your journey, support you and help identify goals and solutions to issues while seeking to improve communication and coping skills. Counselling provides an opportunity to explore feelings, beliefs and behaviours and to identify aspects that individuals would like to change.

No man is an island! Yet connection with others is not always easy. I work with Adult & Adolescent clients with relationship issues, low self-esteem, social anxiety, depression, stresses of everyday living, may have suffered abuse, bereavement and loss, or had a difficult childhood where their needs were not met. Are you feeling unsettled, overwhelmed or in distress? I help the client explore within themselves to gain clarity, perspective and understanding about themselves and their lives, enabling them to move forward through the blocks in their path to embody a more positive future for themselves.

Therapy can be a truly transformative experience, which can help you address self-destructive habits, resolve emotional pain and improve your relationship with others and yourself.
It is impossible to tell you exactly what your therapy process will be like, as you are unique, with your own experience, strengths and difficulties. Good therapy will be tailored to you and your individual situation. That said, in all models of therapeutic work I will work with you to define your goals and to develop the steps you will take to achieve those goals in therapy. Your therapeutic process will not only focus on your current situation and experiences, but also on the internal patterns that may be contributing to how you are feeling.

I believe that empathy and compassion are essential when creating a safe therapeutic relationship and I passionately believe in the importance of being seen, heard, accepted, and understood by another in a caring and non-judgemental manner.
Hello and welcome. Are you stressed, lost, anxious? Life brings many experiences our way, some good and some bad. The emotional impact of these experiences can be frightening or confusing. Our family have a lot of influence on us, how we behave, how we talk, and how we communicate. Loss, grief, and anxiety are challenging. Processing our emotions is an essential part of living a healthy life.

If we both feel comfortable to work together after this, it gives us a positive start towards building a relationship of mutual trust and understanding.
A client experiencing issues of anxiety, depression, family trauma, bullying, relationship challenges, parenting, low self esteem and confidence. A need to get to know oneself better. A need to understand a situation, a person, or circumstance more fully. A need for peace of mind and heart. A need for answers to internal questions that are causing unrest. The client wants peace of mind and heart as there is or are some thing(s) causing them distress. The client may not know what the issues are. I offer the client a safe space to discover what they need help with and walk with them on that journey.

In addition to general counselling, I am an advocate for including a dog (if desired, yours or mine) in the therapeutic relationship, to address potential barriers in traditional talk therapy.
The most important words you may ever say are “I need help” As humans, we all need the help of others at times of difficulty. Perhaps you have been trying to deal with life’s difficulties, but still feel stuck with certain aspects of your journey. Maybe it’s time to explore your inner world with a professional who will listen non-judgementally & with empathy to help you live your best life. I’m interested in people & the experiences that have shaped them. I understand how crippling anxiety & depression can be & that relationship breakdowns can be devastating. I can offer you a safe environment to explore what life has thrown at you

As many problems arise in relationship, it is also through a responsive, caring and mindful relationship that past hurts may be healed.
Let’s begin! Even if, at the moment, you are feeling a bit lost or stuck, is it possible that this could be an important turning point in your life? You do not need to do this alone. In difficult times, often the wisest thing to do, is to get professional advice. This fresh perspective from an objective person, with your best interests in mind, is my offer. Now you can do this from the comfort of your home by video call or alternatively you may come to see me in person.

Some clients have lost themselves and their identities. This can be due to childhood trauma or a life event that has brought painful emotions such as a significant loss or family/intimate relationship difficulties. The effects of these life experiences make day to day life very difficult, We experience anxiety and depression amplified by overthinking and worry. We need to find a safe space to share the experiences and counselling to process them. A Client comes for counselling to make positive change and live their best life. They want a strong sense of self, fulfilling relationships and help in finding their life's purpose.

I have a lot of experience helping people heal from childhood abuse, emotional neglect, relationship difficulties, sexual abuse, bullying, low mood, anxiety, personality difficulties, trauma, PTSD, stress, burnout.
Sometimes you might find yourself being really sensitive and feeling overwhelmed with emotions that are coming out of nowhere, often flying off the handle, or being tearful and upset. You might not be feeling yourself, like you are carrying a huge weight and you don’t know what it is or why. It might be that you feel really tense, and ‘on-edge’ and it’s difficult to relax. It can also be that you feel totally shut-off from others, detached and disconnected, feeling empty and numb. Life has lost its colour. Others constantly feel guilty, find it really hard to say no to others, and live in a constant state of never being good enough.

Relationship Issues Counsellors
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
