I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2005 and worked for the NHS, before moving to New Zealand in 2009. I have worked for the District Health Boards/Te Whatu Ora in adult mental health. I now work full-time in private practice, seeing young people and adults over 16, and offering individual therapy. I can help with anxiety, stress, mood, worry, assertiveness and emotion regulation. My aim in therapy is to provide a warm and safe space where we can work together on achieving your goals. I pride myself on being approachable and easy to talk to.
I have training and experience in a range of therapeutic models. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) looks at the links between our thoughts, feelings and actions. Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) looks at our values and how we can learn to tolerate difficult events. Compassion Therapy encourages self-kindness and balancing the inner critic.
I welcome questions and am happy to have a free short chat before you commit. I understand it's tough deciding to try therapy and am here to make it as comfortable as possible.
