Counselling can increase self-awareness and help identify, address, and find ways of coping with the challenges that occur in life. Holistic counselling includes a person's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Holism is a form of healing that considers the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. I work with teens and adults and believe given the right environment and support, we all possess the capacity for self-healing and growth. I also use research-based interventions to reduce anxiety, improve mood, process trauma, and improve relationships.
The Holistic Counsellor provides a supportive and safe environment where issues can be clarified and ways of navigating these can be explored. By applying an integrative and open approach to counselling, effective strategies can be developed that meet the needs of each person, to encourage positive change.
Modalities used include: Person Centred Therapy (PCT), Kaupapa Māori concepts to wellbeing. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Polyvagal Theory, self-compassion practices, and mindfulness.
