The format of the group will include the four modules: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. There will be a focus on learning to attend to the present moment without judgement, understanding and changing emotions, dealing with intense emotions and/or crises without making things worse, building and ending relationships, and dialectics (the purpose is to shift black/white thinking to a more realistic and nuanced approach to situations). The skills build on previous ones and so participants are required to commit to an entire module at a time. Facilitated by Alia Carata, LPC, NCC.

Therapy is a two person job. As a therapist, I am here to listen and encourage the client, but the client has to want to do the work within themselves. It is so important for us to work as a team to establish achievable goals that you as the client can work towards. As the therapist, I am the guide, but it is up to the client to put forth the work and effort to heal and better themselves. I love working with all types of people that are willing to seek healing and learn more about the why behind who they are.

Many people struggle with living a peaceful, satisfied, fulfilled life; existing as oppose to living. Living consist of being one’s “best self,” with best being defined by the individual. Although, biological, traumatic, and negative experiences may encourage self-defeating behaviors and thoughts, such experiences are not who a person is. Counseling presents a challenging journey through such experiences to discovering and understanding one’s self to increase one’s quality of life.

Currently No Evening Hours Available! I work with high-achieving, strong men and women who are usually the pillars of their families, friend groups, and communities who support everyone else BUT themselves. I create a safe and non-judgmental space for you to release anxiety, develop deeper awareness, and gain an understanding of what has kept you stuck in unhealthy cycles and negative self-perceptions. For clients desiring faith-based treatment, I help them explore their relationship with God and faith where they feel disconnected instead of living free.

Currently online only. DBT helps clients with longstanding emotional difficulties gain control of emotions like anxiety and anger. It builds skills to tolerate distress and make it through the night when things seem unbearable. DBT works to change destructive behaviors. DBT clients start to live life with their eyes open, in the here and now, even when things aren't perfect. DBT is not traditional process therapy. Games are a powerful tool for growth and healing. Participants in groups will play tabletop games - especially role playing games (RPGs) like Dungeons & Dragons, Savage Worlds, and Kids on Bikes - to practice relating, communicating, advocating for themselves, and collaboratively solving problems. Through positive shared experiences, participants become more resilient, empathetic, self aware, competent, and confident. Groups are available for kids, teens, and adults.

I believe in the power of stories to inspire and to promote growth and healing. I embrace a wellness model employing the DIR Floortime framework using play (following a person's lead and need) and semi-structured cooperative and collaborative games, to give people the opportunity to see themselves as not just the authors, but the heroes of their own stories, shifting the focus from pathology to potential.

Many believe grief is only associated with the death of a loved one. In reality, grief can relate to any loss. The OCD Grief Group looks at the 5 stages of grief and explores how these stages manifest themselves in individuals struggling with OCD. This therapist-led, 8-week session gives participants an opportunity to process the grief related to OCD and receive encouragement from those who share similar losses. The therapist and members examine the risk factors of the various stages and discuss healthy coping skills to transition to acceptance and healing. OCD is exhausting, depressing, hinders productivity and prevents you from enjoying life to the full. You've probably felt shame, or maybe you've hidden the special tricks that have helped with decreasing your OCD anxiety. You feel stuck and it's hard to be confident in your decisions. It would be nice to have one moment of relief, where your thoughts don't feel like they're spinning out of control. You're desperate to have clarity around everything you've been feeling for so long, especially your concerns about contamination, sexual orientation, religion, violence, pedophilia, health or harm.

This virtual group focuses on improving assertive communication. When we are un-assertive, we may walk away from situations with our needs unmet, feeling misunderstood or unheard, decreased feelings of self-worth, and a constant replay of the interaction with ruminating thoughts about what you should’ve said or done. The benefits of assertiveness include gaining self-confidence and self-esteem, understanding and recognizing your feelings, earning respect from others, improving communication, creating win-win situations, improving your decision-making skills, creating honest relationships, gaining more job satisfaction, and reducing anxiety and improving mood.

I help professional women assert themselves in the workplace and in their personal lives. There may be a fear of being judged or negatively labeled that keeps you from letting your light shine. When you are not able to be the full expression of yourself, you are often left feeling dissatisfied, disregarded, and overlooked. These feelings easily turn into resentment and can leave you feeling anxious or even depressed.

I offer group virtual supervision to clinicians who work in hospital/agency settings or transitioning from hospital/agency settings to private practice. Because hospital/agency work has such high risk of burnout, a supervisor for settings needs to have expertise and experience in burnout. I have a passion for helping new clinicians develop their therapeutic identities while providing excellent clinical care to their patients. Having been a director at a hospital then transitioning to private practice, I am uniquely able to provide supervision for new clinicians who wish to transition from hospital/agency to private practice.
