I found my passion for mental health during my 2nd semester of nursing school. After graduating with my BSN in 2007, I started my first job as a psychiatric nurse and never looked back. I earned my MSN in 2021, now practicing as a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the Wichita area. I have experience in providing medication management for a variety of psychiatric diagnoses, including ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, insomnia, OCD, personality disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, and substance use disorders. I take pride in my ability to connect with my patients and their families.

I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I am passionate about providing quality, compassionate and comprehensive mental health across the lifespan. I Possess strong clinical skills enhanced by a natural ability to build rapport with patients and their families. I follow evidenced-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, and personal observation. My role is multifaceted including mental health advocate, educator and therapist.

I provide medication management to children, adolescents, and adults 18+ years of age at Alive Family Psychiatry in Leavenworth, KS. I treat several disorders, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, addiction, PTSD, sleep disorders, and ADHD, to name a few. My passion for treating mental health started during my RN training, and this desire has stayed solid and consistent ever since. I am a veteran of the Texas State Guard, the wife of a retired U.S. Army veteran, and a mother to exceptional children.

Hi! My name is Janice Mayer. I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have 30 years of experience treating people ages 18-102 for a variety of mental health issues. My approach is integrative, combining medications and psychotherapy along with other complementary treatments. This combination of therapies is customized to fit a person's individual goals, lifestyle, and needs. I find this approach most successful in finding mental, emotional, and spiritual balance and healing.

I've been lucky enough in my lifetime to find the career that ensures that I have always been ready to meet the day. The old saying "if you find something you love to do you will never work another day in your life." That's basically how I feel about what I do. My greatest skill I've been told is the ability to communicate and listen to my patients. I always prefer to let my patients help lead their own way and set goals. Education is an important part of my job, whether it 's helping patients understand a new diagnosis, or medication management. I bring many years of experience to the practice and look forward to meeting you.

Dr. Subbu Sarma, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist with expertise in addiction medicine. Dr. Sarma received his medical degree in 1999 at the St. Louis University Medical School. Since 2005, he has practiced addiction medicine and treatment methods.

Angela Armstrong, RN, MSN, PMHNP-BC, is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She holds Master of Science in Nursing degrees in both Psychiatric Nursing and Nursing Education. She has been working in healthcare since 2007 in a variety of settings including infection control, public health, and long-term care. She provides interventions, treatment, and holistic support to clients across the lifespan with acute, chronic, and substance-induced mental illness. Angela’s approach is to provide high-quality, client-focused care to meet the unique needs of each client.
