Also, mental illness is often not situational and is prominent among members of certain families. With all this, it is no surprise that mental illness is rampant and should be taken seriously and treated, rather than hide it in shame.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist.
