I am a bilingual (Spanish) licensed social worker/ therapist for many decades. I feel honored to join you in your life journey wherever that may lead you. I believe strengthening your story of empowerment, resilence and recovery can take place when you take time to re-examine old stories, patterns and life experiences with another caring person. Together we can re-invent ourselves and surpass losses, trauma, hardships, discrimination and other life experiences. Let individual, couple or family therapy become a place of healing and growth.

My ideal client is one who is willing to be introspective and patient with themselves during the therapy process. It's important to "fix" the issue rather than put a Bandaid on the problem. I find that learning to dig deeper to get the root cause often yields the best results. My hope is that my clients feel comfortable being vulnerable with me. I want my clients to learn to trust themselves through the therapy process and feel like when they are ready to leave therapy, they have the tools they need to navigate their challenges with confidence.

I strongly believe in the power of self-compassion, self-love, and giving oneself grace. In my therapeutic space, I stress the benefits of taking active steps to learn how to treat yourself with the kindness and love that you deserve from yourself and others. One of the best intervention tool can be self-compassion and positive regard for oneself. I very much understand that developing this part of oneself can be difficult, as we live in a society that greatly profits from our dislike of ourselves. Despite this challenge, I strongly believe that we all have the capacity to overcome this and develop this skill set.

I enjoy helping to support people as they navigate through the many different waves of life. I help to create a warm, non judgmental, and supportive environment where clients are free to talk about their stories. I draw from a number of different treatment modalities, but most importantly, meet the client where they are at. While each individual's experience is unique, I regularly work with clients around topics related to anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts, relationship concerns, sexuality, ADHD, life's transitions, familial conflict and many more.

Do you feel like a part of you is stuck in the past or perhaps a part of you is always thinking about the future? Maybe you feel the tension in your body and hear the endless chatter of your thoughts? Intellectually you know you are good enough and lovable but there's a feeling that lingers. You might be considering that your physical pain could have roots in your thoughts/feelings. Perhaps you've experienced something really difficult and challenging. Maybe trauma(s)? Clients that work with me are aware of the mind-body connection & are looking for an integrative approach to therapy.

Not accepting new clients
I am not accepting new clients at this time. I utilize an intuitive approach to healing that draws on the logical, emotional, and spiritual components of ourselves. I offer a safe space for clients to examine their path. I then help to facilitate the release of trapped emotions and diminish the intensity of painful memories and/or trauma. I am skilled at seeing what may be holding a person back from realizing one’s full potential. I help to clear the path toward greater happiness and fulfillment.

Life can be tough at times. We grapple with complex emotions, relationship challenges, financial constraints, and spiritual hurdles. We all face demands from every direction, including from ourselves. It's easy to feel stuck, like life is passing you by, and it is frustrating knowing you’re not where you want to be. Events such as losing a loved one, a job, or a betrayal can shift the ground you are standing on. We sometimes experience burnout, anxiety, depression, and trauma, which harm our sleep, our eating habits, moods, relationships, & jobs. I would like to work together with you to help you reach your goals.

Often times , despite one’s accomplishments and successes one can still feel weighed down by a negative view of themselves, feel incompetent and like an imposter. Where does this negative view come from and why can’t we feel better about ourselves? Exploring where it comes from and understanding how we internalized others negative feelings about us and or others projecting their own negative feelings about themselves onto us can put these feelings into perspective and allow for the space to see ourselves realistically.

Welcome, If your seeking a judgement free zone, you found it. I'm a therapist who works with adults on a wide range of issues. I'm happy to do individual therapy or couples counseling. My goal with any client is to help you reach your goal so you can confidently go out into the world and be the you that you want to be. Good therapy is like Mary Poppins. The therapist swoops in, help the client improve their life by reaching their goals and then fly away on their umbrella. And don't worry, the singing is optional.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
