And a crisis like divorce can cause such devastation that keeping a healthy mindset and getting free from destructive emotions can require outside help. Relationships can also become overwhelming, especially where substance, emotional or physical abuse is involved. While unstable relationships can't always be discarded, we can learn how to prevent or minimize toxicity from them.
