Alissa has been a clinical social worker since 2001. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a master’s degree in Social Work. She has 20+ years of experience working within the medical system with children and adults who live with chronic conditions such as kidney disease, cancer and HIV/AIDS. Alissa primarily supports clients living with a chronic/terminal illness, care takers for another person with a chronic/terminal illness or working with grief and loss.
Alissa’s approach to therapy includes client-centered, strengths-based, and solutions-focused methodology. Her practice is one that supports looking within oneself and the environment to recognize strengths. With her soft presence, Alissa guides mindful and nurturing therapy sessions that encourage increasing overall wellbeing and functioning in daily life.
Alissa offers simple interventions that support a healthy balance between the sympathetic (fight or flight) and parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous systems that will support feeling whole, healthy and complete. She uses mindfulness practices to examine and support our human experiences and often weaves them throughout her sessions.
