Children have a outdated stereotype of being so resilient they can 'bounce back' from anything. This isn't always true. Children display reactions to traumatic experiences differently from adults that may not make sense to adults, may appear as "just annoying or whiny" or "a phase". When children don't have language to express themselves verbally, it will come out behaviorally! So maybe those behaviors mean bigger things when we look at what the child has experienced as a whole.
I specialize in providing counseling to children ages 3-12. I have met all necessary qualifications for the Registered Play Therapist credential through the National Association for Play Therapy and am waiting for the official credential to come back. I love working with kids!
Ever since starting my counseling journey, I have always wanted to work with kids. They are some of the most vulnerable and deserving members of our collective community and our future. They need someone who can understand them in their own 'language' and give back in that same way. I believe I am that person for kids and would love the opportunity to try.
