My goal in counseling is to help you identify the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that prevent you from achieving your goals. My approach is grounded in cognitive theory. I teach you strategies and interventions used in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Cognitive Behavior Therapy is the most researched of all the psychotherapies and has demonstrated effectiveness. Additionally, I am a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and can work with you on issues pertaining to employment and career. The sessions are interactive and collaborative. I will help you identify how your thinking impacts your emotional health and behavior.
You identify the areas you want to work on and together we define what progress would look like for you and how you can achieve your stated goals. In CBT the work that occurs in the session is practiced between sessions so that you can immediately begin to realize your progress.
This approach yields short-term counseling and I offer booster sessions to strengthen and refine your goals. I have years of formal training in CBT.
