My name is Gizane, I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) clinician and have over 30 years of working experience with children, teens and adults. Years ago, working with traumatized young children, I became mesmerized by the way traumatic experiences rewire the brain for "protection" instead of "connection".
I decided to take a deep dive in the area of trauma and its devastating effects on the developing mind. Over time, I learned about the importance of attachment in early development, how the quantity, quality and timing of early childhood experiences shape our brains at the cognitive, emotional and behavioral levels.
Healthy therapeutic interventions give us a "second chance" to undo maladaptive patterns of behaviors and learn healthy ones.
