My ideal client is someone that comes to our office with the willingness to invite change into their lives. While it is not required that they have extensive knowledge about their diagnosis or what it means, they just know that their current situation is something they are willing to put in a certain amount of time and effort towards making changes. In short, my ideal client is ready and willing, we will work on getting them able together.
My focus is client-centered and I believe that the client will lead us to their desired location if we just listen. While my specialty is dealing with clients that have had issues with drugs and alcohol in the past, my focus is more often on the client’s root causes and conditions that led them to using these coping mechanisms.
I am a counselor that has overcome his own mental health issues to get where he is. I am a combat veteran that fought his own issues when I returned from Desert Storm. This life experience and the process of learning to cope with life on life’s terms and sharing it with others was the basis for my career in this field and I hope that I can share it with you.
