Finding the right words at the right time in relationships is tricky. Sometimes in the middle of an argument, when it matters most, words just aren’t there or they come out wrong. You may find yourself freezing in panic or leaving the room to prevent saying something you don’t mean. Sometimes, the fear of repeating past experiences paralyzes and it’s really hard to imagine ever getting past those memories. For some, you might be on the other side of the argument, saying things out of exasperation that you regret later on. Relationships are hard! It's painful and lonely when you’re stuck.
As a relationship and trauma therapist, I can help you get unstuck in those negative patterns. In my work with LGBTQ couples and individuals, I lean heavily on Emotionally Focused Therapy’s framework that explores patterns of attachment and practices new ways of relating, invaluable tools to break free from old, stuck cycles that aren’t working any more.
