I am passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges. My goal as a therapist is to walk alongside you, process past experiences, shed light on patterns you are engaging in, and provide you with tools to improve your mental health. I aim to foster growth, introspection, and self-acceptance. I enjoy working with a range of ages and concerns, but I am particularly passionate about working with adults suffering from anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and self-esteem issues

I work with adults, women, men, adolescents, and children.
In today's society, with the advent of Covid-19 and other life challenges, If we do not take action, we can find ourselves swimming in a pool of negative emotions such as; Fear. Anger. Disgust. Sadness. Rage. Loneliness. Melancholy. Annoyance and many others. If you are experiencing any of these emotions among others, I can help you. I understand that you may be reluctant to reach out to a counselor, but reaching out to a counselor to ensure that you maintain good Mental Health is just as important as reaching out to a medical doctor to maintain good Physical Health.

We all have had experiences in our lives that have made us feel overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, alone or even broken. These experiences have caused a conflict within ourselves and have expanded to important areas of our lives. Adapting to these feelings is a challenge and reaching out for help is even more challenging. The key to healing, both emotional and psychological, is creating a relationship with ourselves and others that helps foster compassion and hope. Change is a process but taking this journey with someone, in a safe and non-judgmental space, allows for the mind to start the healing process.

I have assessed and treated a variety of clinical disorders across the lifespan; however, I am most enthusiastic about my work with children, adolescents, and their families. While I am not accepting clients for therapy, I am well-versed in a variety of treatment modalities including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), all of which I rely on to inform individualized, assessment-driven treatment recommendations for my clients.

Taking that first step and reaching out for help is the hardest part of the therapy process. Doing this for yourself is an important step in a healthy life. My main focus of practice is joining the mind and body together in the healthiest way possible in order to help you become your best self. This may include working on reducing anxiety, increasing anger management skills, or making your relationships more enjoyable. I enjoy helping you explore the inner parts of you that have possibly led you to become unfocused on your goals. Together we will explore what is holding you back, in a safe environment that is focused on your needs.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
