I have been in private practice "A Place To Start" since 2015. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor with over 35 years experience in the mental health field. I was born and raised on Long Island in NY. I retired from Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in 2013. Over the past 35 years I have worked in various setting such as inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient programs, detox, substance rehab and private practice. I take pride in the compassionate care I render to all of my patients through my servants heart and extensive knowledge in mental health and substance abuse disorders.
I am trained in CBT, DBT, Substance abuse/addiction, and Trauma. I treat a multitude of mental health disorders; Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Bipolar, Adjustment Disorders, & Psychosis. My goal is to provide a genuine and trusting relationship with clients in order to help them heal, gain insight and the skills to move forward in life more comfortably.
A Place to Start has grown to include several experienced counselors: Dr. Jessica Greene, LPC, Jameion Fowler, LISW-CP, and Alfreda Small, LPC, NCC. We also have two Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners who can prescribe psychiatric medications; Mary Jane McManus, PMHNP (F/T) & Natali Amaradasa, PMHNP (P/T). Treatment available for ages 7 and up.
