I am a firm believer that clients are the experts on themselves, and I approach each session with the readiness to meet my clients where they are each week. Understanding that progress is not linear, I value the privilege of bearing witness to the unique stories and journeys that clients choose to share with me throughout our time together. My therapeutic approach is both collaborative and strengths-based, and I work through a trauma-informed care lens to ensure that our sessions are conducted with sensitivity and respect for your experiences.

Life tends to throw us curve balls. With all of our energy spent juggling obligations, responsibilities, and managing daily stresses, it's easy to wake up one day and realize that you just feel "stuck." Making the decision to begin therapy can be difficult, but it's the first step towards regaining control of your life. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, experiencing relationship difficulties, or just want a different perspective on whatever is holding you back, I'm here to help you navigate and overcome these challenges. Every person's situation is unique. I do not treat the therapeutic process as "one-size-fits all."

My goal is to create a warm and welcoming space where you can lean into self-discovery and growth. The human experience is a complicated one, but you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, stressed, having relationship struggles, or are simply in a new phase of life I can help you navigate these obstacles. I believe using a holistic approach is pivotal to the therapeutic process. Past experiences may be at the root of current behaviors and patterns. Let’s navigate the past together to better understand and empower your present self.

Making the decision to reach out for help when we’re struggling emotionally can be challenging and even a little scary. For most of us, however, there comes a time when the difficulties we are facing gives us the courage to begin the search for change and healing. Finding the right therapist can be a crucial aspect of this journey. The therapist you select needs to be someone who helps you feel connected, accepted and understood. Clients find me to be warm, compassionate and non-judgmental while creating an effective therapeutic environment.

Are you feeling dragged down by life's challenges? The Zen proverb 'Let go, or be dragged' reminds us that in order to be free of suffering, we must let go. I am inspired by secular Buddhism and believe that suffering is an innate human experience, not created from life's problems, but from our clinging to "the way things should be" and resisting impermanence and change. I help individuals develop acceptance through mindfulness and other Eastern teachings to provide them with freedom to flow with life and equanimity to remain calm even amongst the most chaotic storms.

People in your life think that you are okay but you are not. It is difficult to let someone close to you into those hidden places. Your smile can not continue to mask your pain. Issues within you and on the outside of you have lead to difficulty forming lasting and healthy relationships, social and personal. You need someone to listen and hear your thoughts. Imagine what it would feel like to share those thoughts and feelings with someone in a safe environment.

Facing life's challenges can be overwhelming! I am the therapist that will provide a confidential environment where sessions are a collaborative process. My goal is to help my clients gain the necessary tools to aid in wellness and a positive mindset. Mental health and physical health work together with both being extremely important. Let's help free your mind of repetitive/negative thoughts. I'll teach you how to spot negative patterns and give you tools and skills to create a new path forward with yourself and love ones. Improvement may not happen overnight, but you should see changes, even if it’s just a better understanding.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
