When we lived in villages, speaking to someone specifically equipped with skills when we had difficulties in our lives was a normal as breathing. Counselling has an origin as ancient as the genesis of humankind. Now that many of us are no longer in "the village", therapists play this critical role. Many people have believed that seeing a psychotherapist is only for people suffering from a mental illness. Therapy is not only treating mental health problems, it is about recognising the need for support, which we all need, during difficult parts of our lives. Therapy is about supporting healing, wellness and growth.
