TIME Magazine The result is thoroughly delightful. The reasons for its success lie in Disney's own unfettered animal spirits, his ability to be childlike without being childish. Dale R The story of the Jungle Book is simple, a boy takes a walk in the jungle and happens upon different animals with differing opinions on his well being. However, what really pushes this movie above the rest is the music! Once again the Sherman Brothers knocked it out of the park with a little help from Terry Gilkyson who composed “The Bare Necessities”. All the songs in this film are favorites of mine! The cast hits it as well: Phil Harris is amazing as Baloo, Louis Prima was ingeniously cast as King Louis and George Sanders plays a menacing Shere Khan. I love the scene with Khan and Kaa having a conversation about Mowgli. Which leads me to why I can’t give this film five stars. Beside the simple plot, Bruce Reitherman, who plays Mowgli, can not sing to save his life. Again I think that “the kid has to be cute” won over “the kid should contribute to the music” idea. Since the music is really all this movie had going for it, the fact the lead isn’t musical is a big issue for me. Still highly recommended though! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Rami A Not great, but very good and fun. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/12/24 Full Review Matthew C One of my fave films. Now enjoying it with my children. Great music. Humour. Action. Just love it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/29/23 Full Review The H nice going, doesn't bore Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/22/23 Full Review Francisco M Nicest cartoon ever. It's funny, exciting, and has the right balance of emotions. The new version is no match. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/23 Full Review Erik Z The Jungle Book is a Disney classic that continues to charm audiences with its delightful animation, memorable characters, and catchy musical numbers. A joyful and entertaining film that brings the jungle to life and leaves a lasting impression on viewers of all ages. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
