Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) A sharp little horror movie. Mar 23, 2024 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com “Amelia’s Children” is still poised and grotesque enough to be charming, even when it doesn’t seem to be messing with audiences at all. Rated: 3/4 Mar 2, 2024 Full Review David Ehrlich indieWire Worn down and familiar as some of this kooky genre exercise can be, it ultimately confirms that Abrantes has what it takes to make the movies feel young again. Rated: B- Mar 1, 2024 Full Review Aaron Murray Loud and Clear Reviews When we love our media out of irony, what happens when media begin to take notice and edit themselves accordingly? Amelia’s Children is a Portuguese horror film that, for better or worse, leans on the side of camp to the very end. Rated: 2/5 Aug 4, 2024 Full Review Miguel Calabria EscribiendoCine It does not entertain, scare, or surprise and it is not even funny. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 2/10 Jun 11, 2024 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Amelia's Children is a tedious horror movie with mostly wooden acting in a story that has more insipid moping than any real scares. The characters react to twisted family secrets in ways that are hard to believe. The movie's ending is atrocious. May 6, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

prawnda s it's worth watching, and the setting is visually pleasant, but a few scenes involving automated translation are just not very well handled by the director, and this is especially problematic in terms of exposition. it would be better if instead of having lengthy conversations translated by the protagonist's phone in a robot voice, we just heard a few lines from the phone and then it faded into only subtitles and/or a flashback montage. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/06/24 Full Review Julia A Really great film! I will admit, it’s an extremely slow burn of a film, but so well made with a great cast. As long as you go into it not expecting a fast paced thriller, you will enjoy this. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/04/24 Full Review JUGRNOT R Must watch for horror/creepy movie fans. You can never trust critics on movies like this. They always need the movie to say something about life or society. They never understood that some movies are just meant to entertain. This is a great example. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/01/24 Full Review Christelle G I have questions. Putting the incest aside, let's look at the missing picture here..how did Amelia become youthful again? Did she eat the former father or did she have twins again and devoured the one that was unable to have children? How did she know which one was in unable to have children, she did keep manual around which means that she had to raise him first before sleeping with him to be sure... I'ma need some answers Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/18/24 Full Review Natalie H Great film, a bit strange but so good! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/04/24 Full Review Joel P Just another insignificant horror/mystery entry you can rent for a few dollars. It is not a worthy diversion of your time.
