Joe Leydon Variety Lightly amusing but unremarkable. Feb 1, 2006 Full Review Tim Brayton Antagony & Ecstasy Even if we're going to concede that the narrative space filled by Bambi II needed the filling... surely there was a better story than this one. Rated: 2/10 Apr 30, 2013 Full Review R.L. Shaffer IGN DVD Certainly not perfect, but Bambi II isn't a bad DTV midquel. Rated: 7/10 Jan 29, 2012 Full Review James Plath Movie Metropolis Maybe Bambi II is II much Bambi. Rated: 6/10 Dec 29, 2011 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...Bambi II never quite comes off as anything more than a needless sequel. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 11, 2006 Full Review Jeffrey Chen Window to the Movies Playing it safe renders it mediocre, unaligned with its predecessor in spirit, though its thoughtful efforts in visual and musical homage shouldn't go unnoticed. Dale R The direct to home video sequel to Bambi 60 years after the original. This didn’t feel like the same world we saw in the original film as the character animation is updated to a more modern Disney look. Some of the large background work was spot on, but the backgrounds the characters interacted with seemed updated as well. Since this movie happens right after the death of Bambi’s mother in the original, these changes didn’t work for me. The story is a reluctant guardian narrative about Bambi’s father. There are a couple sub narratives including Thumper not liking his sisters and a rival bully deer for Bambi. These sub narratives didn’t add much to the film and the bully character was annoying and the movie would have been better if he wasn’t in it. Though, if the bully deer was supposed to be the deer Bambi fights for Faline’s affection in the original film that would have been cool, but they don’t make that connection obvious in this film. Patrick Stewart as Bambi’s father is the stand out in the voice acting. Props to Keith Ferguson who nailed Friend Owl from the original. If you enjoyed the original there is enough good stuff here for your enjoyment. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Qadir M For me it is nostalgic. It highlights beautiful relationship between father and son, reflects importance of values, and presents animals in more realistic manner. It's a good benifiting story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/06/24 Full Review Nathan B It was very cute, they should kiss though Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review Emery A The endearing bond between a father and his son, bambi is clumsy and his father tries to teach him about life, which is funny and cute to watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/15/23 Full Review Jack W Better than the original. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/02/24 Full Review Pedro V It's a great film, while the villain isn't dark or cold,he's quite funny, the whole movie is very good and it never fails to get some good laughs out of me Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
