Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times This is a B-movie through and through, but thanks in large part to a deep cast of familiar faces and reliable character actors, it's a solid crime thriller that respects the true-life blueprint of the story. Rated: 3/4 Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety This trashy trawl through a fictionalized version of the “West Mesa Murders" is the kind of dubiously moralizing exploitation exercise that makes Sound of Freedom look like a noble class act by comparison. Jul 1, 2024 Full Review Jackie K. Cooper jackiekcooper.com An above average take on a true crime. Rated: 6/10 Jul 30, 2024 Full Review Andy Klein FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It's interesting, but you have to know going in that the basic case was never solved, and they stay true to that. Jul 13, 2024 Full Review Joel Copling Spectrum Culture The culprit behind these murders has still never been found, which this screenplay mostly uses as fodder for a bit of psycho-thriller exploitation. Jul 8, 2024 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Turning a true-life serial killer case into a collection of cliches and contrivances, this derivative thriller never musters much suspense or sympathy for its characters — whether alive or dead. David M Very good story. Kept our interest. Worth seeing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Gilmour M Genuinely, even some of the great faces in this movie cannot do enough to save it. The story does not flow, the acting is extremely stiff from and there is glaring plot holes all over the place. The music used was particularly good and some the scenes were good and well shot, but the whole thing was not really well utilised and no real character building or story telling, a B-Movie thrill ride that struggles to thrill. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/16/24 Full Review Richard M This movie is close to home with one of the murdered girls was my wife’s cousin. I’m glad 50 made this move Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Kimberly S This could have been a good movie (although sad as based on real events) but it wasn't. Mel Gibson disappeared half way thru the movie then reappearing at the end leaving his character and value to the plot lacking. The editing/script was choppy, the camera angles were just wierd at times (& not in a good way) and the casting left a lot to be desired except the lead detective. The FBI female agent's character was overshadowed by her plastic surgery and the lead prostitute was unconvincing in her dialogue & delivery. At no time was I pulled in with suspense. I laughed incredulously at times which is never a good sign when talking serial killers. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/06/24 Full Review Chris S Horrible film. Terrible acting. Weird camera angles. They must have spent the whole budget on Mel Gibson and Fiddy’s wages. Turned it off half way through. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/04/24 Full Review Bella A Worst movie ever totally disappointing - waste of time !!!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews
