In this apocalyptic thriller from award-winning writer and director Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot), Amanda (Academy Award winner Julia Roberts) and her husband Clay (Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke), rent a luxurious home for the weekend with their kids, Archie (Charlie Evans) and Rose (Farrah Mackenzie). Their vacation is soon upended when two strangers -- G.H. (Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali) and his daughter Ruth (Myha'la) -- arrive in the night, bearing news of a mysterious cyberattack and seeking refuge in the house they claim is theirs. The two families reckon with a looming disaster that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world.

Until I watched this, Howard the Duck was the worst movie I have ever seen. I hope that the Obamas lost millions producing this ridiculous waste of time. It makes me sad that the actors in this so-called movie got to claim a closer degree of separation to Kevin Bacon. Footloose was exponentially better than this. If this is what Sam Esmail envisioned he should find something more worthwhile to do with his life. This was a festering stew of half-baked concepts with Julia Roberts screaming at unbelievable CGI zombie deer. Why? The only reason I watched it to the end was to confirm that it had absolutely no value and I could write an honest review. I question the integrity of any reviewer who gave it more than one star. Netflix should send an apology to all of its subscribers and pay for the emotional harm caused to viewers. Worst movie in the history of the universe.

Pretty bang on the best apocalypse film. Plausible, captivating, mature, with a brilliant cast this film built and built and ended with witty bravura. I have no idea why the audience score is so bad … maybe like Julia Roberts’ character says ‘people are just terrible’. But this film was not terrible, it was so satisfying.
