John Doyle Globe and Mail Alex Rider is a beauty of an entertaining series. It's got several threads -- spies, lies, skullduggery, teenage kicks, gripping action sequences -- that are woven together nicely. James R We're finishing off season 1. It's enjoyable cause it has this juvenile Bond vibe going on, but if any reviews suggest this is a polished well-crafted show, they're nuts. The director seems fixated on dark rooms, everyone's wandering around with these yellowish dim lights. The characters are cartoonish...from the Ghostbuster's secretary lady to the ascot-wearing evil Dr. Greif! And aside from Tom, the supposed high-school-age characters look like they're all 28 years old. But we're watching it. Does it have the brilliant dopiness of the legendary "Money Heist"? No. But it'll do...not much else on.
