Inkoo Kang New Yorker The new allegiances in the finale satisfyingly blur the lines between the factions, but until war truly begins—and Rhaenyra embraces every aspect of leadership, including the unsavory ones—it’s still all table-setting, no meat. Aug 9, 2024 Full Review Rachael Sigee BBC.com We know already that there is no happy ending, but it has increasingly seemed that the characters themselves agree. Aug 9, 2024 Full Review Fiona Sturges Financial Times But implausibilities aside, in its second outing, House of the Dragon has cemented itself as a fantasy drama of weight and worth, one that has favoured smart, streamlined plotting and emotional heft over empty spectacle. Rated: 4/5 Aug 7, 2024 Full Review Victor Pineyro Seventh Art Studio Protagonists are reactive, budget didn't allow us to leave the three main locations making the characters redundant, the creators believe every single audience member has read the books, some epic moments nonetheless. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 6/10 Aug 8, 2024 Full Review Jon Negroni Cinemaholics It’s exceptionally clear to me that Condal enjoys the text for the same reasons I do. That he’s far more interested in the shading of history than the accurate depiction of it. Aug 8, 2024 Full Review Jorge Loser Espinof The season benefits from having only eight episodes instead of ten; it flies by and nothing goes amiss, in all aspects, from the direction and staging to the photography, it is a constant improvement from the previous one. Chris W When this is your prized show, DONT CUT TWO EPISODES! Loved what I saw. Season 3 should be all time. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/19/24 Full Review Trish A I'm grading this finale on a curve since I know the HBO situation was out of their control. Great season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/19/24 Full Review Jason A Terrific season of tv Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/19/24 Full Review Kramurtz T Where is the action in this season? It's all meeting except for one good mid-season episode. Geez! They might as well have had them doing their taxes. Total waste of a season! Felt like a bunch of filler that went nowhere. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/19/24 Full Review C L Underwhelming. They hyped up the beginning of the war in all the promos and yet it seems like the only person who wants to be there is Aemond. Everyone else is either bumbling around, hallucinating, or selling out their family to the enemy. The pacing leaves much to be desired. We spend a lot of the runtime repeating convos or establishing traits that have already been established (e.g., the Harrenhal arc is meant to display that Daemon doesn't want the crown. We knew this from S1 but waste the majority of Daemon's S2 screentime on this). Alicent & Rhaenyra seek peace so vehemently that they begin to look stupid. The writers A + R fanfiction is getting in the way of good writing and the actual plot. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/19/24 Full Review Southern R It's a great show but the season 2 pacing is far too slow. If the pacing were correct, it would receive 5 stars from me.
