Kayleigh Donaldson TheWrap There are plenty of twists and turns, and Gyllenhaal is a sturdy anchor holding it all together, aided by one of the more enviable casts on TV right now. Aug 8, 2024 Full Review Vinson Cunningham New Yorker Presumed Innocent is a fun, lurid, flawed, addictive whodunnit. Jul 30, 2024 Full Review Don Aucoin Boston Globe Clocking in at eight episodes, “Presumed Innocent” is yet another streaming miniseries that blithely glides past the “mini,” seemingly indifferent to the value of narrative concision while focused instead on creating a broody atmosphere. Jul 29, 2024 Full Review tt stern-enzi WXIX-TV (Cincinnati, OH) It's a quieter film, with a more focused, grounded character... Byron C I read the book and saw the Harrison Ford movie. Both were much better than the Apple TV series. Eight episodes was too long for the underlying story. I don't want to post any spoilers, but the ending made no sense. It deviated from the book, which is okay, but was not satisfying. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/19/24 Full Review Harrison S I didn't read the book nor have I seen the 1990 film, so the only thing I knew about this show was from the official synopsis. I watched all 8 episodes within 24 hours because I had the time, and overall I found it to be a boring premise with mostly boring court scenes and a pretty boring ending. I stayed invested because I wanted to see how it developed but unfortunately it doesn't develop into much. The best part of the show was the reversals-of-fate between Rusty/Raymond and Tommy/Nico at the beginning of the story. It was interesting to see how the characters interacted when the shoe switched to the other foot, but I think the problem was none of them changed as the drama unfolded. And this is just a pet peeve of mine, but I don't think I'll ever be able to see Jake Gyllenhaal as a father to older teen children. The guy still looks like he's in his late-20's! Overall, I didn't find anything special in this story, either inside the courtroom or out, which is a shame because I felt like it had some interesting elements to work with (the drama in the office at the beginning that see the two main "adversarial pairs" switch power positions, Rusty and his wife getting married so young lends itself to an exploration of how young love changes over time, and Tommy's unrequited romantic feelings for Carolyn). Of course, Bill Camp is a bloody legend as always so I'd say it's worth watching once if you like the actors, but if you like good courtroom dramas, you'll probably find this one guilty of inattention to detail. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/19/24 Full Review S L The acting is so good across the board that it makes up for the occasional plot hole. But even amongst an all star ensemble cast performing at the top of their license, Peter Sarsgaard steals every scene he’s in, reminding you why he is one of America’s most underrated actors—truly gifted. My only hope is that there is a season two so we can get this band back together. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/19/24 Full Review Monica M It was very good not great. The relationship between Jake and Ruth is not believable but overall good series with lots of twists and turns Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/18/24 Full Review Albert W Wow! VERY entertaining. VERY well done and acted. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/17/24 Full Review Terry S It seemed like a showcase for Ruth Negga. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/16/24 Full Review Read all reviews
