A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he's used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother's suicide. As Carmy fights to transform both the shop and himself, he works alongside a rough-around-the-edges kitchen crew that ultimately reveals itself as his chosen family. Read More Read Less

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Instead of reinventing the menu, The Bear's second season wisely opts to toss its lovable characters into another frying pan of adversity, lets 'em cook, and serves up yet another supremely satisfying dish.

Simran Hans New Statesman It’s the kind of rich character development that’s missing from most TV and films. Like in a great sports movie, the thrill is in seeing each team member working in synchronicity, lest the whole performance fall flat. Jan 16, 2024 Full Review Daniel Fienberg Hollywood Reporter Jeremy Allen White is still great on The Bear, but credit to the creative team for realizing that this is a show that works best as a true ensemble and not as a star vehicle with some meaty supporting roles. Dec 14, 2023 Full Review Camilla Long Times (UK) It’s a show about food in which the camera itself seems starving, pushing hungrily up against its main characters as they try to resurrect their failing sandwich shop in Chicago. Jul 24, 2023 Full Review Jackie K. Cooper jackiekcooper.com A wonderful series that contains moments of sheer perfection. Rated: 8/10 Jul 2, 2024 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …the Berzatto family drama is gripping television…with choice music drops, electric acting and a wonderful sense of a small community of family and friends working together, it’s arguably the best thing on tv right now... Andy S It is a season that is just as good as the first part of the series, it explores the characters of the series more, it implements more deep stories like Donna in the chapter on fishes Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/20/24 Full Review Audience Member Chaotic and addictive! Really well done ! sadly s3 lost there focus ! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/17/24 Full Review David N Just as strong as the first season, absolutely loved it. Loved the finale as well. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/16/24 Full Review Frederick T Perfect season - This season was a clear step up, with my favorite episode being S2 E6, with the chaotic family dinner, that really cemented the style that the series goes for. Each character’s development was refreshing to watch, and the series followed a sensible storyline that fitted well. I also felt that the comedic side of the series really improved. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/07/24 Full Review Audience Member Still good not as addicting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/07/24 Full Review Pengi V This season is the best season of television I have ever seen. Carmy is such a painfully relatable character, I love richie and yeah. I saw a critique that this show tries to normalize the abusive gordon ramsey style kitchen and i have to say I disagree. I believe this show does the opposite, it highlights abusive kitchen environments but ultimatelhy shows that they arent necessary and that a cooperate kitchen environment trumps em all. Ok i hate my review and phrasing, Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/05/24 Full Review Read all reviews
