What to Know

Critics Consensus

Capably shouldered by Henry Cavill's gruff charm, The Witcher's plotty third season pays a fittingly fond farewell to this particular Geralt of Rivia.

Ed Power Daily Telegraph (UK) With wonderfully grimy production values, it never looks like you’re watching a bunch of cosplayers en route to Comic-Con. Yet for all those plusses, The Witcher struggles once more to tell a coherent story – even the subplots have subplots. Rated: 3/5 Jul 1, 2023 Full Review Clint Worthington RogerEbert.com There’s still plenty of that high-camp energy to get by—Cavill’s arched eyebrow and taciturn grunts, his chemistry with the scene-stealing Chalotra, Batey’s frazzled comic relief, and the big-budget creature brawls. Jun 30, 2023 Full Review Hugo Rifkind Times (UK) The fantasy tropes here may all be generic, but they know it and wear a smirk. Jun 30, 2023 Full Review Derek Sante KSNV (Las Vegas) Great action and interesting storyline keep you engaged as we toss a coin to our witcher in hopes he'll stay. I give it a B+. Rated: B+ Nov 13, 2023 Full Review Melody McCune Geek Girl Authority Seeing Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri together like a family is lovely, even if it’s short-lived. Aug 24, 2023 Full Review Federica Bocco Winter is Coming Volume 1 starts and ends very strong, with a bit of meandering in between. While the season as a whole is easy to appreciate, some of the individual episodes tend to repeat themselves. Rated: 7 Aug 21, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Shishir C Horrible. As horrible as first season was great. Story makes no sense and like another person commented, it quickly turns in boring "where is ciri" repeated infinitely without any substance to the story. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Joshua M Heartbreaking how bad season three was compared to the first two. Do not bother with this season. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Charles C If i could rate this a 0, I would. My best friend has read the books to the entirety. Hes the one that turned me on to the games and books alike. The changes they make to characters deaths like a certain Witchers’ death is astounding. Having an actor such as Henry Cavil that absolutely loves the story and embodies the character and then completely butchering the story being told is ridiculous. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/04/24 Full Review Joshua M There is no legitimate reason for any of the writers, show runners, or anyone involved in turning the amazing Witcher stories into unwatchable, nonsensical drivel to still be employed. Everyone involved in this show should send Henry Cavill a fruit basket and 60% of their yearly income because none of them have enough talent or skill to even write or film a homemade porn clip, let alone an actual show. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/28/24 Full Review Nitsan F What a pile of poop. I've tried twice and I can't even finish the first episode. Stupid boring drivel. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/22/24 Full Review Stewart D Enough. I can't watch any more. This isn't a Witcher series anymore, it's the Yennifer/Ceri show. Why are you making this drivel? If you wanted to tell a different story entirely than what was provided in the books, why didn't you just make that story without stealing the Witcher IP and poisoning it? You could've saved a TON of money telling the story you wanted to tell, and fans wouldn't have been nearly as disappointed. You called it the Witcher, filled it with the allure of being a Witcher series, then essentially coopted the audience's expectation with an entirely different story that in itself resembles a Witcher novel very little. Somebody's head needs to figuratively roll for this dramatic waste of time and money. Stick to at least the spirit of the IP you buy. Nobody but maybe hate watchers should watch season 3.
