A reimagining of the long-running series "Walker, Texas Ranger," "Walker" follows the adventures of Cordell Walker, a widower and father of two with his own moral code, as he returns home to Austin after being under cover for two years, only to discover there's harder work to be done at home. He must attempt to reconnect with his creative and thoughtful son and his headstrong, somewhat rebellious teenage daughter and navigate clashes with his family -- an ADA brother who stepped in during Walker's absence, his perceptive mother and his traditional rancher father. Walker finds unexpected common ground with his new partner while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife's death.

The annoying thing is that being a total failure as a remake of Walker [TR]... doesn't necessarily mean that Walker is a total failure as a TV show. It's just something different, and I wish it had just committed to being that different thing entirely

There are no shortage of nods to the world today, but in the pilot at least none of them shifts the needle. It's improvement by increment: the plots aren't as corny, Padalecki can act. In many ways Walker is a show of small steps forward.

Such a pity that the writer / producer decided to concentrate on the (very boring at times) family drama rather than crime and action. Nothing like the original series, which is its downfall. The actors are decent but the storylines and the lack of action mean that it has zero. I don’t know how it lasted four seasons. I’m only watching this one because I paid for it.

I have seen a lot of hate on this show on here and I honestly can't comprehend it. Some people need to stop comparing it to the original, kick that out of your memory and after the first 2 episodes you start to enjoy it. The story lines are good and you really start to connect/understand the characters the more you watch. If you haven't gotten to season 2 of the show you honestly shouldn't be reviewing it. Great show and should not have been canceled, just needed more advertising in my opinion.

Having watched the original I tried not to make comparisons, but I am somewhat disappointed. I can deal with the somewhat mediocre acting and lack of actual action, but the constant background music is annoying. Not every scene needs a song to explain emotions, or what is happening. If a show is good it does not need constant musical support. I watched the 1st 2 seasons hoping for improvement from the increasing soap like story telling. Sad, as there was much potential in the beginning.
