For young Sheldon Cooper, it isn't easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn't always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naive Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. His father, George, is struggling to find his way as a high school football coach and as father to a boy he doesn't understand. Sheldon's mother, Mary, fiercely protects and nurtures her son. For 12 years on "The Big Bang Theory," audiences came to know the iconic, eccentric and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. In "Young Sheldon," audiences get a chance to meet him in childhood, as he embarks on his innocent, awkward and hopeful journey toward the man he will become. Jim Parsons, who plays the adult version of Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory," narrates. Read More Read Less

Justin Burke The Australian It has got a lot of heart, and plenty of laughs. Mar 23, 2018 Full Review Catherine Gee Daily Telegraph (UK) What we have instead is a warm-hearted, coming-of-age tale in the style of The Wonder Years. But without a Parsons-level comic talent among the cast, this series will live or die based on whether the writers can create characters worth falling for. Rated: 3/5 Feb 23, 2018 Full Review Sam Wollaston Guardian Young Sheldon the character might be genius offspring, Young Sheldon the show, not yet. Could do better. Rated: 2/5 Feb 23, 2018 Full Review Alberto Carlos Espinof A halo of nostalgia and family drama permeates the series, and the mix is surprising. [Full Review in Spanish] Aug 9, 2019 Full Review Alison Rowat The Herald (Scotland) As with the adult Sheldon, there are just enough outbreaks of sweetness to make you love him, despite everything. Jun 29, 2018 Full Review Euan Ferguson Observer (UK) Thankfully shorn of laughter track, it will surprise some with its (relative) delicacy, its long, nice, un-busy single-camera shots, at stark odds with its frenetic parent show. Audience Member Season 1 shows a lot of potential, with likeable characters and induces a charming nostalgia for the 90s, even for one who was not born in Texas. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/02/24 Full Review Acen L Decent first season. Needs some work for sure and the show would get better but the kids are cute and there are plenty of good episodes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/28/24 Full Review Audience Member Young Sheldon touched me in a way I did not think was possible. Every single episode feels like an hour and leaves me empty when it's over though when I go to the next episode and see the intro of my beautiful prince Sheldon standing there I feel safe. Sheldon's voice is everything to me, when he speaks I feel a movement in my pants and when the other cast appears oh boy don't get me started, they each have so much chemistry that makes the show absolutely HILARIOUS 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Never in my life have I loved something more, the amount of merchandise I have acquired would be what some people consider concerning (my ex did leave me for foreclosing our house so I could buy a life like figure of George Cooper) but I believe it just shows my love for this wondrous piece of cinema. 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/26/24 Full Review Phil J Absolutely one of the best series on television for a family at this time. Well written, well acted well produced, clean family humor. So sad to see the show ending this year in 2024. It's one of my favorites ever. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/15/24 Full Review Bowie C "Young Sheldon" offers a delightful glimpse into the formative years of Sheldon Cooper, the beloved character from "The Big Bang Theory." Season 1 does a commendable job of establishing the quirky yet endearing personality of young Sheldon, brilliantly portrayed by Iain Armitage. The show successfully balances humor with heartfelt moments, exploring Sheldon's struggles with fitting in at school and within his own family, while also highlighting his extraordinary intellect. The dynamic between Sheldon and his family members, especially his mother, played by Zoe Perry, is both heartwarming and amusing. Additionally, the setting of East Texas in the late 1980s adds an extra layer of nostalgia and charm to the series. Overall, Season 1 of "Young Sheldon" sets a strong foundation for the series, offering a refreshing and entertaining take on Sheldon Cooper's early years. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/29/24 Full Review Person 1 Not funny. What's the point. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/23/24 Full Review Read all reviews
