Dimensity 9400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 benchmarks set tall targets for Exynos 2500

Samsung is expected to launch the Exynos 2500 (tentative name) by the end of this year for the Galaxy S25 series. That chip will face a pretty tough challenge from rivaling chips, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The first set of benchmarks for those chips have leaked for the first time.

Dimensity 9400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 benchmarks leak

The Dimensity 9400 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are built using TSMC's 3nm process. The Dimensity 9400 reportedly scored 2,776 points in Geekbench's (version 6) single-core test and 11,739 points in the multi-core test. In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 scored 2,845 points in the single-core test and 10,628 in the multi-core test. In AnTuTu (version 10), which is another popular benchmark that tests a smartphone's overall performance, the Dimensity 9400 scored 34,49,366 points, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 scored 31,33,570 points. These are some insanely good numbers, and it will be tough for Samsung to perform similarly with its upcoming Exynos 2500 processor.

MediaTek Dimensity 9300

While the Dimensity 9400 and the Exynos 2500 will use ARM's new Blackhawk CPU core, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 uses Qualcomm's custom Oryon CPU core that is already used in the Snapdragon X Elite processor that was launched for Windows laptops. Due to its custom nature, it appears to perform better than ARM's stock CPU cores. However, even ARM's Blackhawk CPU core is expected to perform similarly to Apple's custom CPU cores, so this is great news for Android smartphone users.

While CPU performances of these upcoming chips could be a huge jump from current-generation processors, the difference between next-generation processors will likely come from their GPUs. The Dimensity 9400 will use ARM's stock GPU, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will use the Adreno 760 GPU. The Exynos 2500 will likely use the Xclipse 950 GPU based on RDNA 3 or RDNA 4 architecture from AMD.
