We are reaching towards the end of the month, and so far, Samsung has released the March 2024 security patch to many of its smartphones and tablets, including entry-level, mid-range, and high-end devices. However, there are still plenty of devices to which the company has yet to roll out the latest security update. The Galaxy A51 5G was one of them but not anymore.
Samsung has released the March 2024 security patch, which fixes 45 security issues, to the carrier-unlocked and carrier-locked variants of the Galaxy A51 5G for the US, which have the model number SM-A516U1 and SM-A516U respectively. The software update bringing the new security update changes the firmware version of the carrier-unlocked variant to A516U1UESCGXC3 and of the carrier-locked version to A516USQSEGXC3.
If you are reading this story, the chances are that your Galaxy A51 5G might not have notified you about the update. In that case, go to Settings » Software update » Download and install to check for the new security update. If you don’t see the update, you might have to wait a little more as Samsung might be rolling it out in phases. If you are eager to get it, you can download the firmware from our database and install it manually.
The Galaxy A51 5G is on the biannual security update schedule, which means that Samsung will offer it two security updates every year. Currently, the phone is running on Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 and isn’t eligible to get Android 14-based One UI 6.0. If you are thinking of getting a new phone as the current one won’t be getting new versions of the OS and frequent security updates, you can consider the newly-launched Galaxy A55.
